July 4th

July 4th is one of my all time favorite holidays. It truly sometimes is better than Christmas to me. When playing "this or that" - Christmas vs July 4th is the question that really gets me (much like Julie's pearls or diamonds!) It is always full of family, fun, the lake, BBQ, and good fellowship! This year was a little different, with a condensed trip to the lake. It was still fun to spend a few days in Waco and Dallas with the fam before heading over to Horseshoe Bay. Since we share our place with family friends - it was their turn to have it and we rented a place on the other side of the lake. It was fun, but we all missed our prime location and fun neighbors.

We got into town Friday night just in time for the family cocktail/sunset cruise and dinner! I bought these really fun party topic place cards from Table Topics (http://www.tabletopics.com/) and we busted them out on Friday night. Our family is all about asking random questions at the dinner table, and every time I learn something about someone that I didn't know! The questions were good though, asking what was the most memorable tv event in your lifetime, what is thing you most want to do before you die, what celebrity would you want to spend the day with, etc. Very thought provoking :) We stayed out on the porch talking late Friday night and catching up with the cousin and sisters.

Saturday we had a great breakfast and then hit the lake! Boat tour to our place to get some things, and to watch the boat parade. So sad, every year we decorate the boat for the HSB annual Boat Parade. This year, all the decorations were at the other place, and I did not have my partner (Weezy!) to help me decorate. But we were spectators in the boat parade from the boat....very interesting. We had a great lunch at Cap Rock and did a lot of swimming in front of the house before we went TUBING! Me and MH are the tubing champions, and I swear my legs flew like 5 feet in the hair every time we hit a big wave. I was SO SO sore the next day. We kept singing "I'm on a tube, I'm on a tube, I got my life jacket...and my sunscreen". We also went with Brent to teach McKay (his 7 year old little boy!) how to waterskii. So cute.

That night we had dinner from none other than Sonny Bryan's BBQ (Thanks Brent and Walker!) and then got ready for the fireworks show. Since you can no long legally have your own fireworks display (bummer) we went to watch the one at the lighthouse. We watched it for the first time from the boat this year and got hit by some "shrapnel" during the show, but it was beautiful. I don't know why but I LOVE me some fireworks! Beautiful!

Sunday morning we had a big "country breakfast" and soon after the Harman clan left to water skii, the cleaning service came to say we were supposed to be out of the house by now! Opps - so we had to scramble together to get out of there. So we made it back to Midland to pick up MILLY girl! ps - the dog in this pic is not Milly, but my aunt and uncle's golden "Liberty". We sure are a GOLDEN family :) Enjoy the pics!
