My sweet husband got up early and hung a sweet birthday banner in the kitchen, got me flowers, cupcakes and gifts! He also took the day off work to be with me. Quality time is one of my love languages so I loved that we got to spend the day together. We started the day off at our traditional birthday lunch spot - Dos Compadres. We had our usual meals and I got to open my gifts! My husband knows me well, I got a 147 Million Orphan T-shirt (check them out here) and a scarf from Noonday Collections (check them out here), a new candle for my office and stationarry! I LOVE my new birthday gifts and want to do a post about all the ways you can purchase awesome gifts (for you or someone you love) and at the same time help someone who makes these beauitful things to have a sustainable income for herself. It's one of my goals to help make these things known. Blog post about them all SOON!
After lunch, we headed to do some shopping - thanks to my parents I got a few new spring dresses for all of our fun events this summer! I love when my man goes with me to shop :) Shopping was followed by a daytime movie - one of our favorite pasttimes. We saw Soul Surfer - if you haven't seen it, you need to get your butt up and go see it now! It's an amazing story of a girl and her family who suffered tremendous loss (her arm in a shark attack) yet God made something really great out of it all. The family (it's a true story) are christians and scripture was all over the movie. Makes me so happy - it was SUCH an inspirational story. God can use ANYTHING for good even something that seems so terrible, He can use it for good and for HIS glory. Amazing!
After the movie, we went to one more shop & then to get my favorite snack - a sno cone ;) That night was dinner with 15 of my closest friends at my very favorite Midland restaurant - Luigis! Talk about feeling loved and special! I seriously just re-read all my birthday cards. Birthday cards & cake are THE BEST things ever! I have such thoughtful friends that KNOW me and know that spending time with me, and sending a card/text/phone call/email is all I could ever want. Thank you thank you everyone for making me feel so darn special and loved!
I did a big post over at my WEP blog today about another fun birthday surprise & Easter....so go check it out....http://wynneelderphotographyblog.com/?p=1329
