God's continued faithfulness in Korah

God has been so good and faithful to provide the children of Korah with SPONSORS to go to school! We have watched the numbers dwindle and count it a joy to be a part of what God is doing in that city. The number of children who need sponsors is down to TEN kids left for boarding school & 5 kids left for Bright Hope! It's been amazing to see how many friends from various walks of life have stepped up and sponsored these kids. I look forward to keeping up with yall & hopefully being there one day when you meet your child in Korah!

{this is the band of brothers-who work with the kids of Korah- and some of our Man Up leadership on the trash dump in Korah right before our whole team prayed over the dump.}
SAMMY - is the 2nd one on the far right.

I just had to share a little bit of encouragement from Sammy, who is with Project 61/Great Hope Church in Korah. Sammy is the one I told you about that lived on the dump until he was 13 and has now devoted his life to helping kids who are in the situation he was in as a child. He's in the states right now raising support & awareness and I got this email from Erin @ Project 61 today:

Sammy, from Korah, is here visiting right now and shared his testimony with our Bible study class last night. It was so powerful, and his words about the sponsored kids were so humbling. He told us we were breaking the yoke of poverty that was on them. That before, the kids never talked about what they wanted to be when they grew up because they couldn't see past their daily needs to even hope for anything like that. Now, they are full of joy, hope, and talk excitedly about their future! It's not just a sponsorship. People are truly changing lives!

If God has awakened something inside of you about these precious children, and how you can take them from the dump.....to sponsorship......then email Erin - erin@p61.org and check out more info on their website: http://p61.org/sponsorship.html

{this is one of the children I saw on the trash dump - this is where he makes his living & finds his & his families food}
{I have NO DOUBT that the boy above would look like my friends Tesfaye & Miluken if he had a chance to go to school}

The day we went on the dump (post coming soon) I saw a group of boys that Eyob told me were his friends who still lived there. I have no doubt that out of the 10 kids left for sponsorship, some of them are those boys I saw that day on the dump. I can't wait to see how God redeems them from their situation & breaks the yoke of poverty on their life!

The deadline for sponsorship is September 30th.

  2. Wynne,
    I don't know you and don't even know how I just found your blog tonight, but we apparently have many friends in common, as well as a deep love for Africa and a call to adoption! I did the Rwanda/Ethiopia VO trip last New Year's, so I'm excited that you'll be a part of it this year. I loved reading all about your time in Ethiopia with so many of the people I also got to meet and love last year. We just got back from Rwanda last month and are praying that our next trip is soon! We are waiting for our little one from Rwanda, and will join you in praying for your precious one as well! God bless you and your family!!

  3. Anyway that we could see pictures of the 5 kids left that need sponsors for Bright Hope? Do we choose a child to sponsor or is one chosen for us? So excited about the print sale going live tomorrow - I'm ready to shop!!! ;)
