hope.

Obviously, hope was a big theme for me on the trip.

I got a tat to prove it.

Which begs the question, after every Africa trip will I get ink?

Jury is still out.

But I was just going through my journal last night and had to put on paper a little more about what I learned about Hope on this trip.

Africa changed me. I"ll never be the same. Everything was more REAL in Africa.

I could breathe there.

I saw people as Jesus sees them, not as the world does.

I saw the hope that they have.

I long for that kind of hope.

Despite their sometimes desperate situation, they have hope.

Hope in Jesus!

Not that God will change all of their situations, but they keep their eyes on HIM and that's exactly what you tell us to do.

to not worry about our circumstances but to keep our hope and our trust in you.

One of my boy's in Korah's name was Tesfaye. We met the first day in Korah. He was sitting in the front row of Great Hope Church with his blue v-neck and pink undershirt. We locked eyes and when it was our time to go sit amongst the crowd, there was no doubt where I was going to sit. He was drawn to me, and I was drawn to him. Maybe it's because his name means "my hope". I was drawn to hope that week.

  2. I followed you over here from the Wiegand's blog - great guest post! I just wanted to share a friend of mine's blog: Love Them Love Him. She's a friend of mine since childhood, and her biological son's name is (Drum Roll) Camp! And they're about to adopt a little boy from Uganda. And she's a noonday ambassador. So yeah, y'all probably already know each other - but hey, in case not...you might like to!

  4. i'm here from casey's blog. God's working through here because i was meant to come here today.

i leave for ethoipia for the 3rd time in 3 weeks to teach at an orphanage and there is so much stress and fighting in my heart, and god just reaffirmed my heart through your story, you mission, your love.

it's so beautiful what god has done for you, and in turn, what you're doing for him.
    ...for the least of these...

anyway, my husband and i are starting the adoption process very soon. hearing other people's stories, no matter how heart breaking, or happy, or anything and everything in between are so heart warming. God IS Good.

you and your beautiful family are in my prayers. for precious little camp, for protection around all of you, and for you and your husband.

(there is a little boy at my orphanage named tesfa an i always wondered what it meant. so beautiful.)

    blessings <3

I have been to Ethiopia once last October and as a team of people head there today it was very nice to read a post about the Hope The people Have in Africa!!! I loved how REAL life was there. Can't wait till God brings me back there and hope that Adoption is in HIS plan for us... because I would love to bring one of those babies home one day!
